Deosai Plains

The Deosai Plains are a vast, high-altitude plateau located between the Indus River and the Himalayan Range, near Nanga Parbat (8,125 meters). These plains sit at an average height of 3800 meters and are famous for their rolling green meadows colorful flowers, and snow-capped mountains. A journey through Deosai is truly unforgettable. Deosai National Park, often called the “Land of Giants,” is one of the highest plateaus in the world with an elevation of 4114 meters (13,497 feet). It covers 3000 square kilometers (1,200 square miles) and is known for its rich ecosystem. In spring the plains bloom with wildflowers and attract many butterflies. The park is also home to unique wildlife, including the Himalayan Brown Bear and Markhor.

A Journey Through Deosai

The adventure begins in Skardu where a jeep ride takes you through the scenic Satpara Valley. From there you’ll cross Ali Malik Pass (4,082 meters) and reach the Kala Pani Stream. At this point you can enjoy an easy hike across flat terrain to Deosai Lake .

The journey continues over Chachor Pass (4267 meters) to Tarashing a small village that serves as the starting point for treks to the Rupal side of Nanga Parbat. You’ll also have the chance to explore nearby areas, like Chungpar Glacier, before moving on.
